The research project "Current Status of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Teaching Applications in Malaysian Chinese Schools," organized by the Institute of International Education College of New Era University College and sponsorship of RM200,000 by Lama International Intelligent Technology Sdn. Bhd. was officially launched on January 23, 2026.

This project focuses on three main types of Chinese schools in Malaysia. Through surveys conducted in Chinese Primary Schools, National-type Chinese Secondary Schools and Chinese Independent High Schools, it carries out empirical analysis on the digital and AI teaching applications at the management, teacher and student levels. The aim is to provide objective and scientific evidence and recommendations to support Chinese schools in advancing toward digitalization and intelligent development.

In his speech, Professor Mok Soon Chong, President of New Era University College, stated, "In recent years, the issue of digitalization and artificial intelligence has evolved from concern and attention to gradual implementation and advancement. Therefore, whenever new technologies emerge, New Era strives to integrate them into teaching, as this has become an integral part of the teaching eco-system."

Mr Jiang Zhaoyu, Chairman of Lama International Intelligent Technology Sdn.Bhd. said, "We hope that through this systematic research, we can gain an in-depth and objective understanding of the current application of artificial intelligence technology across various stages and scenarios in Malaysian Chinese education. This will help accurately identify practical issues and challenges in areas such as technology adaptation, teacher training, resource development, policy support and equipment systems."
